We had a wonderful 2 days at Kasbah Agafay.
It started when we were greeted at the airport by the Kasbah’s driver and whisked to the hotel in an air conditioned SUV (about a 15 minutes drive). Upon arriving through the ‘fortress style’ doors to the riad Aziz greeted us with Moroccan mint tea and gave us a tour of the grounds (including the spa, yoga space and outdoor cooking classroom in the garden). After a quick nap our driver took us into town to meet with our guide for a private tour of Marrakesh’s streets and souks. Aziz arranged all of this for us within moments of asking. Our driver was waiting for us in the square to take us back to the Kasbah when the tour (and our shopping) was finished. Now, we had a chance to cool-off in the pool and enjoy some aperitifs. For dinner, as this was our first time in Morocco, Aziz did away with menus and prepared a special meal for us.
We started our second day with a delightful breakfast, poolside. When we finished, it was time to meet-up with our driver again to visit some Berber villages with another private guide for the day (with all arrangements taken care of by Aziz). For our last night in Marrakesh we decided to try the famous food stalls in the main square. Aziz was happy to oblige, in fact, he drove us to the square himself and gave us his cellphone number so we could call him for a ride home ‘any time’ we wanted.
It was hard to leave the next morning. Of course we were sad to leave Marrakesh and the beautiful grounds of Kasbah Agafay; but most of all we were going to miss the company of Aziz, Fazel and Shimi. They had been so warm and kind to us during our 2 days at the Kasbah it felt like we were saying goodbye to friends.
