INTRODUCING CUERNAVACA

People know how to enjoy themselves in Cuernavaca. In the bustling plaza in the centre of town you’ll find locals letting their hair down, watching the dancers or entertainers – many Mexicans come here to relax and party. Join in with a glass of tequila, or two. There are plenty of parks to stroll through, including water parks if you want to cool off from the gloriously warm temperatures.

Wander a magical square, savour local food and learn to dance, Mexican style.

Things to do

FOOD

Yes there is fine dining to be had in Cuernavaca, not least at your luxury hotel. But make time to try some traditional fare too. Join the locals, who tend to eat tacos from vendors in the square. And make sure you try the local broth known as pozole, too.

NIGHTLIFE

The Mexicans know how to party, and many of them descend to Cuernavaca from nearby Mexico City for the weekend. You’ll find lots of nightclubs in town, and some stay open all night. Why not work on your moves while you’re here and arrange some salsa dance classes.

DAY TRIPS

About half an hour’s drive from Cuernavaca you’ll find the town of Taxco. A number of silver mines flourished here, and there’s still plenty of the precious metal in evidence, mainly in the windows of the local shops.

If you’re visiting Taxco and buying silver, make sure it’s authentic and not just plated. Look for the special .925 stamp that means an object is 100% silver.
