Esencia Hotel

It is like arriving in your own private jungle - albeit a luxurious jungle. After leaving the car service you arrive at the lodging by a combination of walks and golf cart rides. You are greeted by your requested cold libation (in our case margaritas) phoned in by the driver of the car service. A staff member then shows you about the spa and dining areas before taking you to your accommodations. I never did figure out the name or number of our accommodation but no matter - everyone seemed to know who we were at the restaurant and beach. There are excursions available to Tulum, the nearest and in my opinion the most beautiful of the Mayan ruins (because of its proximity to water) Unfortunately we did not have time to take this and we had seen Tulum before. The beach is immaculate and you can wander along it or out into the water on soft white sand it seems like forever. It is a very restful oasis, especially after passing the the big megahotels with plastic wristbanded customers on your way in from Cancun. We appreciated the stocked minibar with water, juices and beer that was complimentary and also the bottle of wine greeting us in the room. We had a wonderful stay and would happily return!
