Top 3 reasons to stay at the hotel:
-
Colonial charm and individuality.
-
Great location in Brandywine Valley, near Winterthur and Longwood Gardens and Hagley museum.
-
Wonderful onsite restaurant, Krazy Kat, with whimsical décor and great food at breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Overview:
It is hard to believe that the houses comprising the Inn at Montchanin Village were once homes for workers in the Dupont mills. If they had been furnished as they are and had today’s services and amenities, I doubt that workers would have ever unionized! Each room-suite is individual and they all have different layouts and furnishings. A short walk through pretty local plantings from the honor bar in the main house (barn) is a pleasant interlude preceding dinner.
Although many people will visit to enjoy the charms of Winterthur and Longwood Gardens, the Hagley Mill-Museum should not be missed. It contains the first DuPont house along with explanations and demonstrations of making gunpowder, the beginning enterprise for the famous Dupont clan.
