Top 3 reasons to stay at the hotel:
-
This hotel is by my measures possibly one of the finest hotels in the world, and it was therefore a pleasure to stay here.
-
They are excellent hosts and pamper you as if you are a VIP. All their staff are trained to perfection so leave all your worries at home!
-
Everything you can ask for and more! Fine food, excellent spa, excellent grounds and location, immaculate gardens and building, and flawless rooms and suites.
Overview:
This hotel is a wonderful property in Udaipur, overlooking the lake.
It has 30 acres of grounds, with approx 100 rooms and suites, swimming pools and a spa, besides chandni, a dining experience in the lawns overlooking the lake. The setting of the hotel is very romantic and the all the facilities are exceptional. I have been to this hotel at least five times but I cannot get enough of it!

Top 3 reasons to stay at the hotel:
-
The memorable transfer by hotel launch across Lake Pichola to this stunning hotel. Check that there is water in the lake, it has been known to dry up in recent times.
-
Dinner alfresco, under the stars at the Suryamahal restaurant. The most romantic setting especially if you book a table with one of the canvas pergolas. The food was fabulous and Chef Rajive prepared a special Kerala meal for us – delicious!
-
Do not miss the Spa of all Spas – the central chandelier and marble décor are the most impressive I have ever seen. The calm, relaxed ambience and spacious treatment rooms were exceptional and the fresh ginger tea I was offered following the fabulous treatment, totally hit the spot.
Overview:
From the moment we were met at the airport by the hotel driver to the transfer by hotel launch to the hotel we knew we were in for a special time. The team at The Oberoi Udaivilas (
www.slh.com/udaivilas) were amazing, nothing was too much trouble and each and every one of them knew us by name.
This impressive hotel stretches across a hill looking down to Lake Pichola and the views are truly special. The marble ‘lily’ ponds in the central courtyard are very unusual and welcome you to a stepping stone experience. The interior of the hotel is immaculate and decorative. I particularly liked the candlelit room leading from the main reception.
Our room and bathroom were impressive with their décor and soft furnishings - many handmade and simply beautiful.
I rarely wish to return to a hotel but The Oberoi Udaivilas would be an exception. If a visit to Udaipur is on your itinerary do not miss this hotel, it excites the senses!
