Tanjong Jara Resort
Luxury resort and spa facing the South China Sea
Important Announcement
Tanjong Jara Resort will be carrying out some construction and renovation work from 1 October 2011 through to the end of May 2012. As a result of the unique design of the resort and the carefully planned construction timetable, minimal guest disturbance is envisaged. All guests will be pre-assigned rooms furthest from the affected area as possible to minimise any potential disruption.
An unsurpassable destination for utter relaxation, Tanjong Jara Resort is the stuff of dreams. Resembling a 17th-century Malay palace, this is a stunning spa retreat set against a backdrop of tropical jungle and facing a golden beach and the glistening South China Sea. Expect fish caught by the resort’s own fishermen, a cookery school and a range of exciting excursions.
Nose-to-nose with nature, immerse yourself in serenity and beauty that is all around at Tanjong Jara Resort. Every room and suite has a view of the sea, some with verandas and others with sunken outdoor baths in private gardens.
Take your welcome glass of hibiscus flavoured Roselle when you arrive at Tanjong Jara Resort and the spell begins. Stroll the tropical gardens and try ever-popular steamboat cuisine of fish, meat and vegetables steeped in savoury broth. Trek the jungle, dive the reefs around the island of Pulau Tenggol, cycle to villages and meet indigenous batik and bamboo weavers.

Tanjong Jara Resort offers kayaking, water sports, snorkelling and diving as well as a state-of-the-art gymnasium and a therapy complex with a range of treatments. Authentic Malaysian cuisine is enjoyed in the hotel's 'Di Atas Sungei' restaurant overlooking the South China Sea. Or, there's the 'Nelayan' on the shore where seafood is the order of the day.
Dining
In Tanjong Jara, the fare on offer is matched in variety only by the settings where you can savour your meal. Gazing out to sea at the Nelayan, under the shade of rustling palms at Teratai Terrace or over the meandering river at Di Atas Sungei.
Di Atas Sungei Restaurant
This restaurant offers an extraordinary and distinctive dining experience, as there is no printed menu available. The interesting twist is the "walking menu" in the form of the Menu Master. Their suggestions and recommendations will assist you in planning your personalised menu. 'Roselle Chicken', the Resort's signature dish is even featured in the official cookbook of Small Luxury Hotels. Try our special tropical desserts, the 'Souffles'. Selamat Menjamu Selera (Bon appetite).
