Top 3 reasons to stay at the hotel:
-
Chic Luxury: this hotel really excels in creating a sumptuous, chic environment that caters to the smart traveller. The rooms succeed in being both luxurious and functional, fitted out with every imaginable amenity, including fabulous sunken baths, electric shower curtains, Bang & Olufson sound systems, and discreetly hidden plasma screens.
Hotel Eclat really has the “it” factor, and it happened that Eclat was the venue for the Taiwan video music awards after party on the first night of my stay.
-
Service is first class, with an emphasis on privacy and discretion. Butler service is available 24 hours a day, for all you midnight snackers, and the concierge are armed with numerous suggestions for the latest dining or partying options. A very adult getaway for an avant garde crowd. No wonder Hotel Eclat is a favourite haunt of the Hong Kong celebrity set.
-
Location: just on the edge of the downtown shopping and entertainment districts, the hotel benefits from being in a quiet neighborhood, while offering easy access to nearby restaurants, shops, bars of the popular Zhongshan Road, and Da’an districts.
Overview:
It is always the small details that make or break a trip, and what made my stay at Eclat so special was the small touches, and attention to details shown by staff across the board.
Upon check-in, I was recognised as a valued SLH guest, and was kindly offered a complimentary bottle of wine to make up for the fact that it was not possible to upgrade my room, as the hotel was fully booked that weekend. Oh, and they even asked my preference. I was delighted to find a bottle of Chile’s finest Cab Sav waiting for me in my room on Day 2, and it was delicious.
While I very much enjoyed the complimentary breakfast buffet, served in the hotel lounge area on my first day, enjoying breakfast in the comfort of your own room is I believe one of life’s little luxuries, and so I decided to have breakfast delivered to my room on Day 2.
Other than specifying which beverage I would like to drink, I left the food selection up to the member of staff on the other end of the line. I don’t know how they managed to do it, but the selection was impeccable, anticipating many of my favourite breakfast foods. I was also delighted to have it hand-delivered by tray to my room by one of the hotel managers. A very classy touch indeed.
By the time I checked out of the hotel, it was far enough from breakfast, and just far away enough from lunch that I was feeling somewhat peckish. The receptionist must have heard my pangs of hunger, and was kind enough to offer me a taxi snack of fresh fruits and mineral water for the ride to the airport, allowing me to leave the hotel on a high note, and in good humour for the flight.
