1. Let’s say you want to be within striking distance (15 minutes) of a happening Thai town scene but you also want to be in a pristine, private, meditative hillside environment…then, this is the place for you. The villas are nicely set apart, each with its own private infinity pool. The bedrooms are very large, high ceilings, and beautifully appointed with all mod-cons, wi-fi coupled with open air bathtub and funky wooden-bucket rain shower (with garden views through a floor to ceiling window) and many other distinctly Thai high-style touches, like orchids all-around, rush-matting wall coverings, stone tiles. You can now either start to write your book or screenplay, read the book you’ve been dying to get to or spend quality time with your family. And, that’s just in the bedroom area. You will also have a huge sitting area with lounge areas, a service-apartment style kitchen and flat-screen TV with a great selection of channels.

2. The private inifinity pools at AKA Guti are absolutely delicious, but you will be irresistibly drawn to the resort’s massive black infinity pool perched up on the hillside, a stone’s throw from each villa. With plush towels and robes and full restaurant and bar service it is highly likely that you will want to spend a huge part of your day swimming, reading and just enjoying the gorgeous view over the hillside. If you are a swimmer, this pool is the real deal and you can exercise until your heart’s delight. For small children both ends of the infinity pool are large shallow chic areas where kids can play all day while mum and dad pop up from time to time during their laps.

3. The hotel will arrange to take you to its ten-minutes-away sister property down the hill, which has a lake-side spa with five treatment rooms, all delivering deliciously professional massages, facials, pedicures and other beauty treatments. All treatment rooms are open-air so that you can better take in the rustling of the lake breezes and the singing of the lake birds (and the occasional bull frog!) over the already very chilled and sophisticated spa music.
