Overview:
Hua Hin is located about 200 kms south of Bangkok and has been a favorite beach resort for Thais long before foreign tourism took off. It all began back in the 1920’s when the Thai king visited Hua Hin and liked the place so much he built a palace there. Now the neighboring resorts of Cha-am and Hua Hin are home to many hotels and resorts stretching for miles along this coast.
Few have the charm and character of YaiYa Hua Hin. This modern boutique hotel has been constructed to the highest standard. The comfort and needs of its guests have really been forefront in the design of this five star property. As you walk into the cool and spacious white lobby and onward into the relaxing lounge and reception area you are met by brightly coloured works of modern art and sculptures, more at home in a city gallery than a resort hotel. Light, space, good quality wood and fabrics, and a strong use of pastel colours are also reflected in the guest rooms and villas, which all incorporate the latest eco-friendly products alongside the more traditional mosquito netted four-poster beds. Guest rooms are extremely large even for Asian hotel standards. As SLH guests, we were ungraded to a sea view suite with an enormous balcony, coming in at 110 sq metres!
The Pool villas are simply gorgeous, and well worth the extra money if you value privacy and the luxury of your own private plunge pool and shaded day bed located on top of your living quarters. Feel free to create your own world here with room service bringing a sumptuous range of meals to your terrace. Alternatively, walk through your personal garden gate and join the pathway taking you in just a few steps to the resort’s main restaurant, bar, infinity edge pool, spa and of course the beach.
The open air Thai-Pas Restaurant overlooking the pool and garden is just the place for a relaxing romantic dinner, providing selections from an extensive Mediterranean and Thai menu. The Tapas is particularly good, and of course fish and seafood of all types feature widely in a reflection of the resort’s location. A leisurely breakfast running through to 10.30am each morning is also taken here consisting of an extensive cold buffet with an a la carte selection of hot breakfast dishes. Be sure to try the yogurt pancakes with fresh cream and water melon.
The pool or beach then await along with a good number of comfortable sun loungers, red umbrellas and fluffy white towels. The Pool Bar operates throughout the day and late into the evening, ensuring that your refreshment needs are catered to. And you must take at least one treatment in the gorgeous YaiYa Spa - if only a foot massage for those weary from Bangkok sightseeing.
If you feel a little more adventurous take the hotel’s complimentary shuttle bus into Hua Hin town, or participate in one of the resort’s organized activities ranging from beach volleyball to cooking with spices!
My advice, though, is just to chill out and relax………there is no better place to do so than here at YaiYa Hua Hin.
