"At the core of this fine dining experience is Mark McNamara's sense of showcasing the produce, from Gulf garfish to Valley caught pigeon and hare to locally nurtured lamb" writes Tony Love, The Advertiser, Wednesday November 23 2011, adding "Appellation is a most worthy ambassador for all SA's regions."

Appellation at The Louise Named Top Restaurant in South Australia

APPELLATION NAMED TOP SOUTH AUSTRALIA RESTAURANT IN 2012 AUSTRALIAN GOURMET TRAVELLER RESTAURANT GUIDE

Appellation restaurant, based in South Australia’s Barossa wine region, was named for the sixth straight year as one of the nation’s top 50 restaurants, and for the first time Appellation ranks as the top rated restaurant in South Australia according to Australian Gourmet Traveller magazine in their 2012 Australian Restaurant Guide.

Writing about Appellation, Gourmet Traveller advises:
A grand Barossa vineyard setting and dining room with terrace make an ideal venue for
Appellation to present its vast list of almost 600 wines. Dishes are designed to flatter
what’s in the glass. Modest in spectacle but never disappointing in flavour, they embrace
kitchen-garden freshness, fine dining extravagance and regional cuisine hallmarks.

Noting this latest Gourmet Traveller award, executive chef Mark McNamara commented,
“While being regarded as the state’s best restaurant by this highly credible guide is the dream of any restaurant team, particularly in South Australia, a state so well known for its food and wine, we are pleased and humbled both by this year’s accolades and by the consistency of the ratings that Appellation has achieved over the last six years.”

Starting with the 2007 Australian Restaurant Guide, just one year after opening its doors,
Appellation has ranked in the top 50 Australian restaurants in every successive year. Fewer than two dozen other restaurants in the entire country have achieved this highly consistent series of reviews, and Appellation is the only restaurant in South Australia to have attained this record of steady high-level rankings.

Appellation is co-located with small luxury hotel The Louise in heart of the Barossa Valley, about an hour from Adelaide. The restaurant serves dinner nightly, offering a choice of à la carte dining or a five-course, wine-paired Chef’s Tasting Menu which changes daily and is priced at $135 per person.

The Louise Expands Luxury Suites

The Louise Barossa Valley addresses demand for premium accommodation experience.

The Louise small luxury hotel in Australia’s Barossa wine region has announced the expansion of its most luxurious guest rooms with the introduction this month of five large Seppeltsfield Suites. Increasing demand by discerning guests for “the best of the best” has led owners Jim and Helen Carreker to invest in the complete interior rebuild of the property’s five largest suites this winter. Now open, these premium guest rooms offer an ideal balance of privacy, space, amenities and services.

Each of the Seppeltsfield Suites features a private gated entry courtyard with a water feature and shaded breakfast table, entry foyer with a dramatic lighting fixture, separate luggage storage and closet, large king-bedded sleeping room with coffered ceiling, comfortable lounge room, oversize ensuite with spa tub, walk-in interior and private outdoor showers, separate toilet, dual basins, heated towel rails, and more. Beds may be requested to be configured as king or two singles. Each suite has a gas log fireplace, three flat-screen televisions and a selection of custom artworks in illuminated shelves and niches. French doors open to a private rear terrace with lounging furniture overlooking a sunset view of the adjacent vineyards.

Fit, finishes, furnishings and accessories are all top range, befitting the expectations of seasoned travellers.
