OUR ENVIRONMENTAL POSITION
At Woodbridge we take our responsibilities seriously. We are not interested in environmental credentials or posturing. We believe in action. The renovation of our wonderful 1825 heritage listed building is in itself a grand example of recycling, and it will provide use for at least another two centuries. Within the building we have re-used timber, furniture and fittings wherever possible. We recycle paper, glass and plastics. We minimise our power use with timers and low energy use appliances and equipment. We have double glazed windows and insulated ceilings, walls and floors wherever possible to conserve energy. Our showers and baths are chosen to minimise water use. Our light bulbs are low wattage, our heating and cooling as energy efficient as possible. We fit our rooms with ceiling fans as a low energy cooling alternative.
Our gardens are watered with drippers and sprinklers positioned, timed and programmed to minimize water wastage At our rural annexe property, Truffle Lodge, we have planted over 600 trees, and are working with Greening Australia to rehabilitate the river banks and re-establish native plantings. We are keenly aware of the privilege of the clean air and pure water that we enjoy in Tasmania
