Things to do
On Kerikeri Island you can visit Rainbow Waterfalls or say hello to vibrant birdlife at the Parrot Place. Many of the islands have marked walking tracks through lush, subtropical rainforest. Stroll riverside or coastal paths and marvel at the huge Kauri trees. Or see the most incredible views of all by chartering a private flight.
ADVENTURE & SPORT
Spend a day cruising on a boat around the islands, or sail on a tall ship and gaze out over the blue sea and island cliffs. Swim with the dolphins, or hire a sea kayak and paddle around the Bay. The clear waters of the Bay of Islands are also fantastic for snorkelling. And with one island as your base, you'll easily be able to arrange private fishing trips or charter a yacht as part of your luxury getaway.
HISTORY & CULTURE
Paddle a kayak to Paihia Island's Waitangi Treaty Grounds and one of New Zealand's culturally significant sites: the Treaty House where colonists and the Maori signed the Treaty of Waitangi in 1840. Here you can also visit a carved Maori meeting house and the world's largest single-hulled canoe. Learn about Maori culture from your friendly guide and watch a cultural performance before going to see some of the first colonial buildings of New Zealand.
