A former High Country sheep station near Arthur’s Pass in the heart of New Zealand’s Southern Alps. Grasmere Lodge has been transformed over the years and now combines a genuine taste of rural New Zealand with ultra-sumptuous accommodation, a pool, a spa, wine-tasting, fine-dining, lots of leisure opportunities and a stable full of horses.
The original homestead of Grasmere Station is still at the core of Grasmere Lodge, yet little rusticity remains. The entire place has the feel of a grand country mansion with large guest rooms and picture windows with breathtaking views. In the public rooms, wood and stone walls blend with tartan carpets, chesterfield sofas and working fireplaces.
Discover the high country on horseback in the summer through tussock country and up the farm and deer paddocks to one of the most spectacular view points on the ranch. Try your hand at fly fishing lakes and rivers near Grasmere Lodge or take a scenic tour in Arthur’s Pass National Park via alpine valleys, virgin forest and limestone rock formations
Canterbury. Four-wheel-drive safaris are available along with scenic flights that take off from the front lawn. 63 miles from Christchurch International Airport.
