Grasmere Lodge

A former High Country sheep station near Arthur’s Pass in the heart of New Zealand’s Southern Alps. Grasmere Lodge has been transformed over the years and now combines a genuine taste of rural New Zealand with ultra-sumptuous accommodation, a pool, a spa, wine-tasting, fine-dining, lots of leisure opportunities and a stable full of horses.

The original homestead of Grasmere Station is still at the core of Grasmere Lodge, yet little rusticity remains. The entire place has the feel of a grand country mansion with large guest rooms and picture windows with breathtaking views. In the public rooms, wood and stone walls blend with tartan carpets, chesterfield sofas and working fireplaces.

Discover the high country on horseback in the summer through tussock country and up the farm and deer paddocks to one of the most spectacular view points on the ranch. Grasmere Lodge now has three different room types and accommodates up to 24 guests in the utmost comfort. Whether relaxing in the conservatory or having a drink by the fire in the library or large lounge, Grasmere Lodge is a glorious high country retreat. This was the setting in which a previous owner, David McLeod, wrote the books that made Grasmere famous. In the dining room, you'll discover exceptional cuisine and a wine list to match.
