Top 3 reasons to stay at the hotel:

  1. The service here is so exemplary that it makes a vacation in the DR worry free. From the spa to the restaurant and room service – all was smooth as silk and thoughtful. You feel completely safe and coddled.

  2. Casa Colonial is right on the beach at Playa Dorada with possibilities of outdoor massage near the ocean, a wonderful view from the swimming pool area and Aqua restaurant on the roof top and an overall sense of calm in luxurious surroundings.

  3. Puerto Plata is a real city with a history unlike in the Punta Cana area which is mainly a long string of hotels growing ever more huge and dominant. There’s lots to see and do including visiting Brugal the nearby Dominican rum distillery, the Amber museum and taking the cable car to the top of Isabel de Torres for a panoramic view.

Casa Colonial is ultra pretty – a combo of old world colonial architecture with modern amenities and touches. The interior decoration is sophisticated with eye catching elements dotted about to please and surprise. The grounds are lush and tropical with orchids blooming on tree truncks beside the pathways. The rooftop infinity pool and Jacuzzis are a sanctuary for a tired body – open through the night for a dip and gaze at the stars. Lunch here at Aqua is peaceful with tasty selections that delight the palate. Breakfast by the beach downstairs has its own charm – just a skip from the ocean over sand the colour of cappuccino. It’s hard to want to leave the place but with great golf nearby and lots to see in the city of Puerto Plata you might want to force yourself.
