The hotel is in a restored chateau that would not look out of place on the banks of the Loire.
It sits in well manicured grounds, on a bluff with sweeping views in one direction and a large forest in the other.
On arrival one is met by both welcoming receptionist and porter. We were received with kindness and courtesy. I never bothered to enquire how the car got on – I did not see it again until the porter delivered it to the front door on departure. It went OK so I presume it had as good a stay as we did.
Our stay could not have been more comfortable. The standard of decoration, furnishing and fittings is outstanding, and the cuisine, served in a charming dining room with views out over the garden, outstanding. The locally made Mcely products used in the spa treatments are luxurious. The staff throughout speak excellent English and could not be more pleased to see their guests.
After viewing the stars from the roof top observatory, sleep was easy in a remarkably comfortable bed, with hardly a sound to disturb one’s slumbers. We stayed two nights. More would have been better. Any fewer would have been a tragedy.
And all this only a two hour flight from London, and close to one of the world’s great cities, Prague.
