Mystery Inspector's Reviews

What's this?

25 November 2011

Top 3 reasons to stay at the hotel:

  1. It is very well and centrally appointed in Paris.

  2. It is sufficiently comfortable and spacious to fulfill its primary function – as a hotel for itinerant visitors to the city.

  3. It possesses a restaurant of the highest quality – indeed, one of the highest in a city hotel in this inspector’s experience. This alone is likely to and should be an attraction.

Overview:

The Vernet is virtually in the shadow of the Arc de Triomphe.

As such, it commands a position which is almost uniquely suited to the attractions of the city. It is relatively grand without being overstated. As stated above, the restaurant is of the highest standard and this is a strong selling point. On the whole, the staff was attentive and helpful and it provided us with a very enjoyable stay.

Top 3 reasons to stay at the hotel:

  1. Hotel Vernet is in the best location for Paris sight-seeing and shopping

  2. It has one of the loveliest breakfast rooms to dine in

  3. It has a really nice family feel!

Overview:

Hotel Vernet is a small property and it feels like it is loved by its owners and management. It has a very intimate feel. The bar is superb with great deep red fabrics – very sumptuous. The staff are polite courteous and knowledgeable- nothing too much trouble. A great place for a quiet, relaxing time in a romantic way – no tour guides and coaches. Our suite was so very comfortable that we didn’t want to go out!! Hotel Vernet is a classic French hotel but keeps up to date with modern facilities. The service was good and the food was up to the standard expected of a SLH hotel. This is a really good choice for a Paris hotel – some of the larger hotels may be superior but this hotel does just what is needed for a city break with all its comforts.

I booked this hotel because it was listed on the SLH. This recommendation has not failed me. The Vernet did have good sized rooms...All the employees addressed me by name after the first day. That shows how much they put themselves out.

Mystery Inspectors explained:

Small Luxury Hotels of the World (SLH) places great emphasis on its inspection process and believes in the importance of using 'real' guests rather than retired hotel inspectors to provide a valuable assessment of the hotel, its facilities and the quality of service provided. Enlisting guests in the quality control programme not only enables SLH's customers to be directly involved in the process but allows the hotels to shape operations based on their guests' opinions and experienced insight. As far as the hotel is concerned, this means that every hotel guest is a potential inspector.
