I could tell that it was going to be a great experience, as I drove up to the entrance of the beautiful Chateau.
The staff were wonderful and helpful in every way and it seemed part of their culture. As soon as I told them that I was a SLH member I was immediately upgraded to a wonderful and beautifully furnished suite which overlooked the vineyards.
I dropped off my bags, and spent the morning in St. Emillion, which was well worth a visit
On my return to the hotel I had a most enjoyable lunch, accompanied by the wine which was recommended. I finished with what was probably the best tasting "pudding" I have ever had.
The Spa was enjoyable and the outdoor pool also allows for children to have a play.
My dinner was enjoyed in a most beautiful and grand room with amazing stained glass windows. A delicious meal with some excellent wine -some of the best food I have tasted, served in an impeccable manner, and paired with the waiters wine recommendation.
I had a peaceful night sleep followed by an amazing and extensive buffet for breakfast, beautifully presented, with hot food cooked to my request. Unfortunately all things comes to an all too soon end. Would I go there again, you bet - an experience not to be missed. This is a hotel that is close to perfection, in every way.
Grand Barrail Chateau Resort & Spa is elegant without being stuffy, the friendly and unobtrusive staff make you feel very welcome. The room we had in the Chateau was spacious, well designed and very comfortable with a sumptuous bed, roll top bath and large shower. Dinner was a superb dining experience and the spa provided one of the best facials I have ever had on my travels. All in all a perfect retreat.
