Overview:
You will need your own transport as the hotel is quite remote, particularly if you want to visit Versailles/Chartres etc. We got a train from Paris to Rambouillet then a taxi. (We did not want to drive in/around Paris).We arrived on a Sunday and the taxi rank only operates Monday to Friday. Luckily the lady café owner (opposite the station) was kind and rang up for a taxi for us, so perhaps contact the hotel in advance for advise if you arrive on a weekend!
It was wonderful for walking in the woodland grounds (although in places some of the tracks were quite thick/rough grass) and the map which we got from the hotel was essential.
The Dining Room was really comfortable with character and the food was first class.
The staff was very helpful and patient with our limited French.
