Arriving at a Chateau is special.
It is a lovely looking building and the sense of arrival is amazing. The hotel is homely and yet has all the facilities needed with many different areas to relax and be served. A comfortable base from which to take short trips in all directions to explore. Good indoor and outdoor space and very helpful and friendly service staff.
I had a most enjoyable, all be it short 2-day stay. All the staff at
Chateau de Gilly are very friendly and most helpful which makes your stay even more enjoyable and relaxing. Should you wish to visit some of the local wineries this is efficiently organised by the hotel. I thoroughly enjoyed my trip to Chateau de Pommard where we were shown around in small groups and given a wine tasting. Don’t miss out on the great buys you can do after the tour – I was certainly left with some magnificent wine to take back home! This is something you should not miss out on so make sure you make plans at the day of arrival!
Chateau de Gilly also easily accommodates cyclists who are touring the area, with their luggage being taken on ahead by van.
Some hotels have a helipad - this one had two! Whilst visiting, two families arrived by helicopter for Sunday lunch which tells you that the quality of food is worth it! My dinner in their Clos Prieur Restaurant was a dining experience that will remain with me for a lifetime. The food was presented with utter perfection and the flavors matched what was a joy for the eye!
All in all a very relaxing and enjoyable stay in beautiful settings!
