Mystery Inspector's Reviews

What's this?

23 April 2011

Top 3 reasons to stay at the hotel:

  1. The location of the Hayfield Manor hotel is ideal, being in the city of Cork in Southern Ireland and within walking distance of the centre, with its shops and numerous places of interest. The hotel is surrounded by its well kept gardens, which creates a haven of peace in an urban environment.

  2. The food is exemplary starting with one of the best and extensive breakfast buffets anywhere, and followed if required by a variety of cooked food, including the aptly named “Full Irish Breakfast “ The theme continues with lunch in the Perrot bistro, cream tea if you can manage it in the lounge and finally a superb dinner in “Orchids” their gourmet resteraunt, not forgetting a drink beforehand in the bar!

  3. The “Elemis” spa and pool to relax and revive after the long day of sightseeing in the city or the surrounding countryside. The spa is extremely well staffed with trained professionals to give you just the right treatment.

Overview:

To be met by the concierge is an experience in its self.
Like every other member of staff he exudes friendliness and hospitality, as if he means it, and they all do. All the communal rooms are tastefully furnished, with a choice of two restaurants. This theme is complimented by the larger than usual bedrooms and well equipped bathrooms. I even used the golf putter in the bedroom! The hotel was originally a private house and there is still the same feeling. A place to enjoy all the aspects of a holiday in Southern Ireland.

Top 3 reasons to stay at the hotel:

  1. The outstanding feature of Hayfield Manor is the friendliness and professionalism of the staff. My stay there was a reminder of the difference a good team can make when you arrive tired and fraught after a days travelling.

  2. Well located, Hayfield Manor is a well established and comfortable hotel which manages to balance a certain old established charm with modern facilities. Both restaurants retain their particular character which accompanied with delicious food and atmosphere keep guests well fed and impressed with a very high level of cooking!

  3. The Spa and health facilities are magnificent - eight treatment rooms, a gym and large heated pool are outstanding and all guests will enjoy the friendly and professional staff.

Overview:

Just before leaving I had a delicious smoked salmon sandwich on the terrace outside in the sun again served with style and thought by the bar team from the spacious, paneled bar. Hayfield Manor is in a real oasis of peace and quiet in the middle of a busy city.

Thank you and your staff for a wonderful few days, we have travelled a lot around the world, and always stayed in 5 star hotels but I have to say your hotel was 5 star deluxe! Staff 10/10, food 10/10, room 10/10, overall 10/10. We will certainly be back.

From the moment I contacted the hotel it was clear that the hotel has a very good customer focused ethos, particularly the restaurant and bar team who were all very friendly and efficient. I would not hesitate to recommend your hotel.

Mystery Inspectors explained:

Small Luxury Hotels of the World (SLH) places great emphasis on its inspection process and believes in the importance of using 'real' guests rather than retired hotel inspectors to provide a valuable assessment of the hotel, its facilities and the quality of service provided. Enlisting guests in the quality control programme not only enables SLH's customers to be directly involved in the process but allows the hotels to shape operations based on their guests' opinions and experienced insight. As far as the hotel is concerned, this means that every hotel guest is a potential inspector.
