Mount Juliet - Reviews

Mystery Inspector's Reviews

What's this?

21 April 2011

Top 3 reasons to stay at the hotel:

  1. The Golf Course - This is probably the best and main reason to visit Mount Juliet. Due to time constraints, we were unable to play a round of golf but what we saw during a long walk around the magnificent parkland grounds wants us to return and experience one of the best golf courses in Europe. The course which was designed by golfing legend Jack Nicklaus is also appropriately known as “the Augusta of Europe”.

  2. The tranquil Location and Grounds - For couples and families who are avid golfers then most of the time will be spend out on the magnificent golf course. However there are plenty of other alternatives for the others. There can be nothing more enjoyable or relaxing than along walk (or jog) around the 1500 walled acres of woodland and rolling green landscapes alongside the River Nore. If walking is not active enough or if you would like to go further afield, then take one of the complimentary bicycles to the Stud Farm.

  3. The activities - For those who are not golfers the estate has more than enough to offer. For example, in addition to the cycling mentioned above there are other activities such as horse riding onsixteen miles of professionally planned bridleways, clay pigeon shooting, archeryin a woodland setting and angling. If the days are cold and wet, then you can try the pool, sauna, steam bath and fitness room in the leisure center.

Overview:

We arrived at midday on a warm sunny day in April but although we were too early, it did not prevent us from taking full advantage of the magnificent estate which was in full bloom.

We first took a long walk around the golf course and along the river Nore and regretting all the time that we couldn’t play a round of golf. We stopped for coffee at the Hunters Lodge and enjoyed the warm spring sunshine and continued along to pick up some complimentary bikes at the hotel and cycled to the Stud Farm and around the Paddocks. After our little adventure, we returned to the hotel and enjoyed the lounge before our room was made available to us.

We were allocated a large room on the right wing of the main house overlooking the front garden. After some time relaxing we decided to use the hotel’s Spa facilities which proved to be utterly enjoyable. My wife had a treatment while I enjoyed the very peaceful Spa with a Sauna and a swim. There were no crowds so we both thoroughly enjoyed our time there.

The bar offered views of the river and paddocks and we enjoyed our drink here before our dinner reservation. We proceeded to the Lady Helen restaurant where we had a very enjoyable and well presented dinner. The following morning we returned to the same restaurant for a delightful breakfast with an excellent selection of dishes.

We will most definitely return!

Mystery Inspectors explained:

Small Luxury Hotels of the World (SLH) places great emphasis on its inspection process and believes in the importance of using 'real' guests rather than retired hotel inspectors to provide a valuable assessment of the hotel, its facilities and the quality of service provided. Enlisting guests in the quality control programme not only enables SLH's customers to be directly involved in the process but allows the hotels to shape operations based on their guests' opinions and experienced insight. As far as the hotel is concerned, this means that every hotel guest is a potential inspector.
