We arrived at midday on a warm sunny day in April but although we were too early, it did not prevent us from taking full advantage of the magnificent estate which was in full bloom.
We first took a long walk around the golf course and along the river Nore and regretting all the time that we couldn’t play a round of golf. We stopped for coffee at the Hunters Lodge and enjoyed the warm spring sunshine and continued along to pick up some complimentary bikes at the hotel and cycled to the Stud Farm and around the Paddocks. After our little adventure, we returned to the hotel and enjoyed the lounge before our room was made available to us.
We were allocated a large room on the right wing of the main house overlooking the front garden. After some time relaxing we decided to use the hotel’s Spa facilities which proved to be utterly enjoyable. My wife had a treatment while I enjoyed the very peaceful Spa with a Sauna and a swim. There were no crowds so we both thoroughly enjoyed our time there.
The bar offered views of the river and paddocks and we enjoyed our drink here before our dinner reservation. We proceeded to the Lady Helen restaurant where we had a very enjoyable and well presented dinner. The following morning we returned to the same restaurant for a delightful breakfast with an excellent selection of dishes.
We will most definitely return!
