What's this?

Top 3 reasons to stay at the hotel:

  1. Residenza del Moro has an instant wow factor – a graceful 16th century palazzo well looked after by the owner family which still lives in the property. The matron’s love of the property is evident, from how she has invested in it her private collection of contemporary art and momento, to how these all fuse gracefully with the original period décor. It is a heritage, a true gem, and one in tune with the modern times, while the garden terrace is pure beauty, and exactly where you’d want to while away a lazy morning before venturing out to see the city! Each room and suite is furnished individually and has their own personality. Book the Suite dell’Alcova and you can soak away your worries in the tub while admiring original period stuccos, carved pillars, and frescoes in your suite!

  2. The location is fantastic – steps away from the River Arno as well as Piazza Santa Maria Novella and within strolling distance to all the sightseeing in Florence. The city and the hotel are pure romance. (The Trattoria Garga right opposite the hotel is a great place to dine casually too.)

  3. You know you will get very well looked after by the staff at Residenza del Moro. Its employees are its real assets – very warm and friendly, like your personal butlers while staying at a former stately home! Your wish is their command!

Overview:

We stayed two nights at the Residenza del Moro. The property itself is a real gem and we loved every aspect of it – the original period décor, the contemporary art collection, the whimsical touches (two pieces of Chinese Mao era kitsch ceramics!), the delight of its beautiful garden. It is just evident that the family-owner loves the property and its heritage. We do too. However, no great hotel will not be complete without a good staff, and Residenza del Moro has that. I didn’t ask the name of the gentleman at the reception but please convey to the hotel my appreciation of the service we received (if it is appropriate at all, do let the gentleman know that we stayed there on 15 & 16 May and we were the girls who forgot the coat at the reception when we checked out, and he right away called the taxi dispatch service to locate us and ran out to meet us – much appreciated!) I would love to return next time with my husband as this is a very special property!

Guests' Comments

Residenza Del Moro is a charming boutique hotel in the heart of Florence. Our Suite La Limonaia was very spacious with original beautiful high frescoed ceilings, massive and oh so comfortable bed. I felt like a princess waking up in palace.

Amazing place, great staff, breakfast to die for and our suite (Acova) was absolutely stunning - frescoed ceilings, massive jacuzzi bath, and the biggest most comfortable bed. Stayed here for our 9th Anniversary and loved it - incredibly romantic.

Mystery Inspectors explained:

Small Luxury Hotels of the World (SLH) places great emphasis on its inspection process and believes in the importance of using 'real' guests rather than retired hotel inspectors to provide a valuable assessment of the hotel, its facilities and the quality of service provided. Enlisting guests in the quality control programme not only enables SLH's customers to be directly involved in the process but allows the hotels to shape operations based on their guests' opinions and experienced insight. As far as the hotel is concerned, this means that every hotel guest is a potential inspector.
