The greatest riding event of South Tyrol
01 June 2012
The biggest horseback riding festival in South Tyrol takes place at the first June weekend again, from 1st until 3rd June.
The Oswald von Wolkenstein Riding Tournament is dedicated to the minnesinger Oswald von Wolkenstein - the poet and composer (1376 – 1445).
This traditional riding event takes place annually in honour of this great South Tyrolean knight and is taking place in in the Alpe di Siusi holiday region. The competitions conclude with a medieval awards festival at Presule castle. Riders compete in teams of four in events testing medieval riding skills including negotiating a labyrinth, spearing rings with a banner at full gallop, negotiating hurdles – in places backwards - and slalom-like gates, always involving team work.
