Set high on a hilltop in the hills of Siena, Castello di Velona Hotel was once an 11th-century fortress which fell into ruins and has been beautifully restored to produce a magnificent hotel. Overlooking the Val d’Orcia, it is in a prime position to enjoy the best of Tuscany’s food, wine and wonderful countryside views.
With its magical setting, the views from Castello di Velona Hotel’s 22 suites and 2 double rooms are breathtaking. All the rooms have a fireplace, antique furniture and each one is individually decorated with an emphasis on blue, green and dark red throughout the castle.
Take a walk along the Orcia River near Castello di Velona Hotel or a bike ride through the shaded country roads. There are plenty of opportunities to go horse riding through this beautiful countryside or head to the medieval village of San Gimignano with its striking towers, or to nearby Siena.

For lovers of fine wine, the Castello di Velona – Tuscan Resort & Spa provides a significant wine menu featuring Brunello di Montalcino, produced under a label bearing the same name as the resort, which, with its 32 hectares of terrain, also produce a prestigious olive oil.
The Inn "Il Vignone"
The inn “Il Vignone” [“The large Vineyard”] provides a comfortable country atmosphere in which to appreciate the best recipes of the traditional Tuscan cuisine, skilfully reinterpreted by our young chef.
The restaurant includes an interior dining hall seating 80 people and a panoramic terrace where morning breakfast is served in the shade of the gazebo.
Our à la carte menu offers tasty and varied dinner dishes.

The Restaurant "L'abbazia"
The gourmet restaurant “L’Abbazia” (The Abbey), located in the castle’s new wing, can seat 120 guests and has a panoramic terrace overlooking the Val d’Orcia.
From here, at sunset, you can enjoy a unique scenery, providing a natural backdrop to romantic dinners and special events.
The restaurant L’Abbazia offers a refined cuisine, which is, however, always inspired by traditional Tuscan food.

Unique among peers, the thermal spa of the Castello di Velona - Tuscan Resort & Spa is the jewel in the crown of our resort, and guarantees guests a one-of-a-kind wellbeing experience.
Major expansion work recently carried out has identified two hot water springs with unique therapeutic properties.
The hot spring water in our SPA flows at a temperature of 50°C and can be classed as “hyper-thermal”. It is rich in mineral salts, contains bicarbonate, sulphate, calcium and magnesium, and its chemical composition is indicated for therapeutic use.
The SPA, set over an area of over 1000 m2, is equipped with two outdoor Spa pools (one of them is always equipped with hydromassage), five treatment rooms, one room for couples treatment, a Turkish bath, a sauna and sensory showers.
To complete its range of options, the TERME DI MONTALCINO offers a choice of wellbeing treatments (face and body) carried out utilising natural preparations made from local products, based on grapes and olive oil.
