It has interior passages leading to the rooms, a restaurant in a vault and long range views from the rooms across open country so one can be sure that one is not about to be invaded.
The service offered by well trained staff is excellent. One’s steed, or car, is tethered out of sight by the porter, and one’s needs addressed with excellent cuisine, through great comfort and, here in contrast I suspect to life in a mediaeval castle, with everything of the highest quality and spotlessly clean.
Castello di Velona creates a little world of its own, and at the height of summer, the incentive to remain in the property and enjoy the extensive pool and spa facilities must be overwhelming.
