  1. The beautiful hotel and grounds. The hotel is picturesque on the inside and out, and one truly feels the character of this former 19th century home of an aristocratic family. With only 23 rooms, the feel of the hotel is calm, cozy and charming. The décor throughout is Italian traditional and Sicilian, and tastefully done. The rooms are very clean, comfortable, and in excellent condition. One could spend a whole day at the hotel relaxing and enjoying the various lounge areas, including the balconies associated with some of the rooms, the bar lounge, the pool and lush garden areas, the rooftop terrace, and the tower room where all kinds of reading materials are available. The bar lounge is particularly interesting with its modern décor and Byzantine catacombs.

  2. Panoramic views of the sea, coastline and Mount Etna. The hotel is perched on the side of Monte Tauro, with spectacular views of the sea, coastline and Mount Etna. Spectacular sea and coastline views can be seen from several of the rooms, yet the rooftop terrace boasts the very best view with Mount Etna in the background.

  3. Location in proximity to Taormina town center. The hotel is a five or ten minute walk from the bustling town center where fabulous restaurants, bars, shops, and an ancient Greek amphitheatre can be found. Along the way, one can stroll through a beautiful park that contains several ancient ruins. After a long tiring day in the town center, it is nice to take the short walk back to the hotel where the ambience is that of serenity. The peaceful calm of the hotel is a perfect way to end a tiring day as a tourist.

The hotel is very lovely inside and out, including the rooms, common areas, and gardens and are tastefully decorated, clean, cozy, and charming. The gardens are beautiful and lush, but need some minor attention. We enjoyed the welcome drink on the rooftop terrace and were given a beautiful room in a quiet location with a nice view as requested. We had a spacious deck with a view of the hotel gardens and the sea beyond. The pool area is quite small, but it serves its purpose of providing a relaxing atmosphere and a place to cool off in hot weather. The food at lunch, breakfast, and via room service was very good. The concierge was friendly and very helpful. We really enjoyed the modern décor of the lounge bar among the Byzantine catacombs, but we had to wait ten minutes for the barman to return to the bar. Thereafter the bar service was prompt and the staff was very friendly.

Carlotta's elegance is a perfect match for beautiful Taormina. Seaview rooms are large and comfortable. Some have balconies to swoon over. And why not enjoy a very slow breakfast on the terrace with a view of sunny seas or snow capped Etna?
