Olimar (the German operator recognized by Turismo de Portugal for it´s work in promoting Tourism in Portugal) recently awarded 15 Portuguese hotels with the Golden Wave Award in five categories.

This recognition is remarkable since the awards ceremony, is based on customer satisfaction and feedback from passengers over the past two years.

The distinction of best "Chef of the Year 2011" comes as the most delicious prize for his daily work and dedication at the two restaurants in Vilalara Thalassa Resort, where he is currently the Executive Chef.

Tiago Bonito began his training 10 years ago with a course in cooking / baking. Several courses and experiences later led him to occupy the role of sous-chef in Blue&Green Troia Design Hotel (Vilalara's sister hotel) in 2009.

Blue&Green Vilalara Thalassa Resort was recognized by the World Travel Awards 2010 as “Portugal’s Leading Spa Resort”. The gala ceremony was held in Turkey, on the 1st of October.

The World Travel Awards, considered the tourism "Oscars", were created in 1993 to recognize and celebrate excellence in the world travel and tourism industry. Based on the votes on 183,000 industry professionals, winning an award has become one of the most important distinctions that a tourism product can receive.

This year, the Insiders' Select programme only included one percent of the hotels recommended by Expedia, an acknowledgement of Vilalara’s excellent service, the unique experience reported by its clients, as well as the price/quality relationship.
