The SWISS – Taste of Switzerland gastronomy concept takes them to Lugano in the canton of Ticino, from the end of February right through until the end of May.

The Restaurant Gallery Arté al Lago is located directly on the shores of the lake in Lugano and belongs to the Grand Hotel Villa Castagnola au Lac. With 1 Michelin Star and 16 Gault Millau points it offers a very special dining experience. Chef Frank Oerthle and his team translate their passion for cooking into an innovative selection of tempting treats.

Villa Castagnola, a member of the “Small Luxury Hotels of the World”, is a property of immense charm, nestled in a large subtropical park. In 2012 the Villa is celebrating 30 years of luxury in the hands of the same family, at the same time as the Restaurant Gallery Arté al Lago celebrates its 10th anniversary of collaboration with the Chef Frank Oerthle.

It’s a concept that has been in vogue in New York and London and is recently evolving in Lugano. A doorstep away from the Villa Castagnola through the park and across the main street, right on the shores of the lake, the Restaurant Gallery Arté al Lago offers a magnificent and unique view over the gulf of Lugano as well as a dainty cuisine. Three times a year the setting is renewed and embellished through artworks and sculptures of contemporary artists of international stature.

The Executive chef Frank Oerthle, awarded as best Newcomer Chef by Gault Millau in 2009 and with one Star Michelin in 2010, distinguishes himself for creativity and exuberance but in the meantime for his rigorous balance; all the rest the result of his passion. The menu stands out for lake and seafood specialities.

At the Arté al Lago, the host Andreas Keller offers together with the Chef and the entire team in an intimate and welcoming setting, surrounded by the beauty of Lugano and its lake, a researched cuisine with exclusive and creative recipes, accompanied by the sublime aroma of the Swiss and international wines from the cellar. Special delights in a relaxing and pleasant atmosphere, directly overlooking the lake and admiring the most beautiful sunsets of Lugano creates a unique experience made unforgettable by an excellent service.

The private function room can be booked for Special Events as Weddings, birthday celebrations or any other particular occasion and can fit up to 80 people.

The Restaurant Gallery Arté al Lago is open all year round from Tuesday to Saturday.
