Top 3 reasons to stay at the hotel:
-
The location and varied activities on offer at Mar Hall are incredible. It is truly an incredibly convenient place to base yourself. Firstly it is a ten minute drive from the airport from which a hired car is good value as there is so much within striking distance to visit. Head into the city of Glasgow for culture and shopping, to the other side of the city for Pollock House and park, with its incredible collection of Spanish art. Local distilleries are a must – Glasgow’s own single malt from Auchentoshan is delicious and the distillery tour fascinating. Head over the Erskine Bridge and up into the highlands and within ten minutes the scenery is breathtaking. Loch Lomond is worth a day trip alone as it is so peaceful and tranquil. Mar Hall is the perfect striking distance for many interesting and enjoyable Scottish treats but in addition and on site there is excellent golf along the river Clyde, a superb spa and a very well equipped fitness facility – all at the level expected of a SLH member.
-
Tea at Mar Hall, in the Grand Hall is a must. The setting, in a long historic hall, is ideal and the afternoon tea heavenly. Chat, read a novel or the newspaper or simply people watch whilst looking out over lovely grounds towards an old cedar tree. The range of tea is superb – my wife prefers Rooibus or Red Bush and no one usually stocks this – Mar Hall did - a true sign of a quality establishment.
-
The bedrooms and suites are superb – wonderfully comfortable and beautifully furnished. Our Junior Suite had a fabulous view of the tidal River Clyde with rolling hills rising from its far bank. The Housekeeper is a true professional and denies any speck of dust a place to hide! The Aveda influence is unmissable and clearly the hotel knows that the principle reason of a hotel is a good night’s sleep with the provision of a fantastically comfortable bed. With Room Service for all your sustenance and surrounded by such luxurious furnishings, hours of pure relaxation is possible.
Overview:
A totally tranquil setting as a perfect base to explore this side of Scotland, Mar Hall brings back memories of proper touring holidays or, perhaps more relevantly, the idea weekend retreat. Loads to see and do, excellent food, really comprehensive facilities give the leisure traveller all that is needed for a memorable visit.
