About the club

In serene countryside, yet a short drive from the buzz of Glasgow, High Blantyre is a town with a surprise or two up its sleeve. Within a few miles you can come face-to-face with tropical parrots, learn about an African explorer or go boating on a loch. There are castles around almost every corner and renowned golf courses within easy reach. Settle in to a boutique hideaway and make grand plans – single malt in hand.

A small town in castle-dotted countryside, with big cities in easy reach.

Things to do

South Lanarkshire is fishing country and a stay in High Blantyre could see you angling for Brown Trout, salmon and pike. Travel the landscape by 4x4, seek out streams and lochs, or get back to nature and trek the countryside by horseback. If you prefer your scenery a little more refined, Chatelherault Country Park’s woodland trails and river walks are sublime.

Blantyre’s most famous son is celebrated in the David Livingstone Centre. Housed in the tenement where he was born, you can pore over letters and journals that paint a vivid picture of his adventures in Africa. Turn explorer yourself and follow the river north to Bothwell Castle. From the keep to the prison, chapel to the Great Hall, every stone tells a story.

The 400 hectares of Strathclyde Country Park are spot on for little ones to let off steam. Explore the loch by Canadian canoe, ocean kayak, speedboat or windsurf board. Just north of the water you’ll find M&D’s. Ride rollercoasters, have fun in its giant soft play area or walk on the wild side in Amazonia. This indoor rainforest is home to parrots, monkeys and tree frogs.

Stretch your legs and take the scenic route to Bothwell Castle along the Clyde Walkway.
