Things to do
To get a feel for this unique landscape, make the trip to Reigate Hill and Gatton Park. There are spectacular views sweeping across the Weald and here you’ll spot wildflowers and, if you’re lucky, the Adonis Blue butterfly. The British Wildlife Centre is close to Horley, and is home to over 40 different animal species, from otters and badgers to owls and deer.
If your kids have some energy to run off, why not take them to Go Ape and let them swing through the trees? Or for a more relaxed day out, Holmbush Farm is family friendly and has lots of opportunities for children to get close to animals.
While in Horley, you could travel to Brighton for a day at the beach. Stroll out along the traditional pier with an ice cream. Browse through quirky boutiques and independent art galleries in the town centre. Or bask in the sunshine on the shore, and perhaps take a dip in the sea.
