If fresh sea air, wonderful coastal views, beautifully appointed accommodation, discreet service and Michelin star cuisine is what you are seeking then look no further than The Atlantic Hotel on the sunny Channel Isle of Jersey.
The hotel is situated alongside one of Jersey's best golf courses, atop cliffs overlooking spectacular St Ouen's Bay. With noisy seagulls, panoramic ocean views, clean white architecture and nautical-style accommodation and fittings, it is easy to imagine you are on board a luxurious cruise liner. A glance at the beautifully landscaped gardens, swimming pool and sun drenched terrace soon bring you back to dry land. The impeccable and very personal service, coupled with the most wonderful cuisine, add to the feeling that you have somehow been carried back to an earlier time - the 1930’s perhaps - when the pace of life was altogether slower and more elegant. We truly expected Hercule Poirot to emerge from the shrubbery at any time with his pencil moustache, morning suit and spats to solve another mystery.
Whether your preference is to relax by the pool with your complimentary morning newspaper, play a round of golf, a game of tennis, or in cooler weather use the indoor pool and spa bath, there is no doubt that you will leave the hotel feeling chilled and rejuvenated.
From the moment we arrived until the time that we departed everything that we experienced exemplified the very best of Small Luxury Hotels of the World service and standards. The really excellent personal service we received during our stay from Martinho de Sousa and his team in the Ocean Restaurant, and the delicious cuisine created by Head Chef Mark Jordan, produced a very memorable stay and clearly demonstrates why the hotel's restaurant has a Michelin star. Although we only stayed one night we left feeling refreshed, relaxed and very well cared for.
The Atlantic Hotel is now very near the top of our list of favorite SLH properties and we hope to make a return visit soon on our next trip to Jersey.
As we strolled into
The Atlantic Hotel to check-in we were more than pleasantly surprised by particularly stylish décor. It immediately made you feel that this hotel knew exactly what it was up to and was aiming to create a luxury feel which it had achieved.
We were appointed a delightful room, even though it was a 'standard'. If only all standard rooms could be like this. It seems that all the rooms within the hotel are the same – you just have a view or you don’t. Evidently the room had been updated and provided everything that would be required. With a small bathroom being absolute perfection in its own small way – particularly the lighting levels – the best ever.
The outdoor pool area is ideal and very relaxing. It’s well laid out with a pleasant area for taking drinks and light lunch.
However, the real “wow” factor came with the Ocean Restaurant and the delightful restaurant manager with his exceptionally well trained staff. Oh yes, and what wonderful food! I suppose that means that the chef should have a good mention too! You can only call this particular area “perfection”. Dinner was a superb experience and as foodies often dining in well known London restaurants we were in our element. I found myself immediately looking forward to breakfast which “Hallelujah” wasn’t all buffet and had cooked breakfast served at the table. All service so slick and again award winning décor.
The Atlantic Hotel has got it right and we intend to return – well managed, well maintained and high standard – an excellent ambassador for Jersey.
