Top 3 reasons to stay at the hotel:

  1. The quality of the food in the Burlington Restaurant is exceptional with a wine list to match. Upon arrival you are taken into the lounge bar and invited to order pre-dinner drinks while perusing the excellent menu and wine list. An amuse-bouche is presented to accompany your drink and the gentlemen staff on hand to advise on menu choices and wine decisions. The atmosphere is congenial, chatty, friendly and relaxed. You are then left to enjoy the comfortable chairs and environment until being informed that your dinner table is ready. Dinner is a wonderful experience from arrival in the bar to the end of the meal. This is a lovely venue for a special occasion or to just make dinner a special occasion.

  2. The Devonshire Arms is in a wonderful location. The walk through the beautifully cared for gardens takes you to the banks of the River Wharfe and you can then stroll along to the remains of Bolton Abbey. This whole area of Yorkshire is spectacular and there are many longer walks and hikes available in the area or the chance to fish or ride if that is your preference.

  3. The indoor leisure and spa area provides a great venue for a swim, a sauna, a workout in the gym or some serious pampering in the spa. This is just across the road from the hotel in the old stables and provides excellent all-weather relaxation and/or exercise with experienced, helpful staff to hand.

Overview:

The arrival at the Devonshire Arms is a delight – a large car park that sweeps up to this lovely old country house.

The entrance and reception is further confirmation of the country house ambience and all of the public areas have wonderful flower arrangements that greet you with subtle fragrance in every lounge and bar area.

Dinner in the Burlington Restaurant delights the taste buds and has a great ambience, enhanced by the very knowledgeable, helpful and friendly staff. This is fine dining at its best. If you would like a less formal meal The Brasserie offers a lovely outdoor area to be enjoyed if the weather permits.

The lounge bar is a great place to relax for a daytime drink and sandwich or to sink into a large sofa for a pre-dinner drink.

If you need to work off some of this food and drink excess the spa and leisure centre is just over the road and sports an indoor pool and gym or you can be pampered by expert staff with a massage or facial.

Mystery Inspectors explained:

Small Luxury Hotels of the World (SLH) places great emphasis on its inspection process and believes in the importance of using 'real' guests rather than retired hotel inspectors to provide a valuable assessment of the hotel, its facilities and the quality of service provided. Enlisting guests in the quality control programme not only enables SLH's customers to be directly involved in the process but allows the hotels to shape operations based on their guests' opinions and experienced insight. As far as the hotel is concerned, this means that every hotel guest is a potential inspector.
