  2. Afternoon tea is a must and if the weather is good enough then take this in the grounds for a real relaxing treat. Home made scones, lashings of strawberry jam and oodles of clotted cream – plus tea leaves and a pot. What could be more English than that?

Turning into the cobbled car park of the Lords of the Manor feels as though you are a noble guest. The classic and well-appointed rooms leave you enjoying great traditional design perfectly coupled with modern facilities such as DVD players and powerful showers. Afternoon tea offers a chance to relax after a long walk around the grounds before enjoying a sumptuous meal in the wonderful restaurant.

Having stayed in many 5 star hotels around the world - Lords has to rate as one of the best. From wine tasting to a wonderful meal in the Michelin Star Restaurant, the Lords offers superb comfort and hospitality.

Everything was perfect, from the service to dining. The room was lovely and well presented with all you would expect from a top class hotel. Have stayed at Le Manoir au Quat Saisons near Oxford and thought it was great, this is a on a par with it.

It had been a few years since I had been back to the Lords. The accommodation is in top form and Matt Weedon continues to set a standard of world class cuisine. The menu is a culinary award winner and I enjoyed three evening meals, each one amazing.
