Las 3 principales razones para hospedarse en el hotel:

1. Top neighborhood: not only is the hotel centrally located just a few minutes’ walk from all top city spots, Chinatown, Fisherman’s Wharf and top shopping, but the hotel sits right on the piazza of Nob Hill, SF’s toniest neighborhood. Walking anywhere (or nowhere and just enjoying the gorgeous park in the piazza) is a pleasure. Honestly, I cannot understand why the hotel doesn’t triple their rates because they deserve it for this place!! A revelation in classy, San Francisco old-world sophistication and charm.

2. When one travels nowadays the expectation of service in North America compared to Asia is relatively low, so this hotel was a bit of a suprise. Everyone, from the two doormen who met our car, took our bags, passed our name on to the front desk (even before we set foot in the lobby) is first class. It is a bit of a mystery how some hotels, like this one, can have such sharp, motivated, intelligent staff. The constant impression is that “you are in good hands” at this hotel and that whatever you need, or whatever question you have, will be dealt with swiftly, professionally and usually with a bit of personal flair and extra thought.

3. It is sometimes the case that “old world” hotels, i.e., hotels in grand, historic buildings, suffer from a lack of updating, but the Huntington is as up-to-date as you can get without sacrificing any of its impressive old world charm. The lobby is plush, the flower displays are gorgeous, the oil paintings beautiful and the woody, club-like bar and restaurant the kind of place you’d like to spend your whole day (great house selection of Napa and Sonoma wines, by the way!). And, where the hotel and restaurant are old world sophistication, the spa and pool areas are modern, sparkling clean and also comfortable enough to spend half your day. There is a fireplace by the pool!! Can’t beat that.
