Services

Chateau des Vigiers forms the centrepiece of a spectacular 27 hole golf course designed by Donald Steel who is considered one of the very best natural golf course architects. The original 18 hole golf course was opened in 1991 and is set amidst plum orchards, oak woods, lakes and vineyards. We have just finished a fantastic 9 hole course, also designed by Donald, to integrate beautifully into the existing course. The three 9 hole loops now combine to form three diifferent 18 hole combinations. We offer a complete range of professional health and beauty treatments in association with Maria Galland of Paris. Our other health facilities include: 3 treatment rooms, relaxing massages, sauna, jacuzzi, steam room, a fitness centre and an outdoor heated swimming pool (open May to September). We propose two restaurants on the estate. Les Fresques is situated in the 16th Century chateau and offers a sophisticated dining experience and has an extensive wine-list. The brasserie Le Chai, open for lunch and dinner, is more informal where you can try local dishes as well as lighter snacks and meals. We also receive seminars and banqueting with 7 confernece rooms. Chateau des Vigiers also produces its own Red, Dry white, Sweet white and Rose wines.

We are located just 25 minutes West of Bergerac airport and an hour and 15 minutes East of Bordeaux airport. Bergerac airport has a vast array of flights coming in from the UK with low cost carriers such as FlyBE and Ryanair. There are many direct flights to Bordeaux from various European cities including London (Stansted and Gatwick), Amsterdam, Munich, Dublin, Waterford, Stockholm and Basel. We can arrange airport transfers and hire cars for you - just let reception know at the time of booking. All major Hire Car agencies operate from the airports (Avis, Hertz, Europcar). Toulouse, 2 hours drive away, connects with many more destinations. Many guests drive to Chateau des Vigiers. If you are driving from the UK, we recommend taking the overnight ferry from Portsmouth to St Malo. We are about 6 hours drive from St Malo. If you are coming from the Channel Tunnel or Calais, we are 8.5 hours drive away. Some guests choose to take the super fast TGV train from Paris. It takes 3 hours to Libourne station, on the Bordeaux line, which is only a 50 minute drive from Chateau des Vigiers and we can organise a taxi transfer, though some guests prefer to take the local shuttle train to Ste-Foy-la-Grande.

By air

Exit the airport and follow the signs for Libourne. After the traffic lights you will cross over the ring road (Rocade) and immediately take the slip road to the right which will take you onto the Rocade. Stay on this road, crossing over the large bridge (Pont d'Aquitaine) over the River Garonne. Shortly after you have crossed the bridge you will see a sign for Libourne to the right which you take (Exit 1). Just past the petrol (gas) station take the exit for Libourne (Exit 26). At the traffic light, turn left and you are on the N89. This is a dual carriageway with exit numbers. Take the last exit (Exit 9) just before the toll/motorway begins sign posted to Libourne. This is still the N89 and becomes a single carriageway for about 6 kms. Exit, following the sign D670 Libourne-Est, Saint-Emilion, Castillon, Bergerac. Follow this road for about 4.5 km where it joins up with D936 to Bergerac. Stay on the D936 to Bergerac, through Castillon, all the way to a roundabout just before Ste. Foy-la-Grande. At this roundabout turn right towards Bergerac (still D936) until you come to another roundabout at Pineuilh. Turn right towards Saint Philippe du Seignal (D18), following signs to Golf des Vigiers.
