Possibly the best hotel we have stayed in. And we've stayed in a lot.
From the moment you arrive, you feel as though you're home. If your home is stunningly, eye-wateringly detailed with beautiful touches everywhere you turn. I even lay flat on my back to take a photo of a small section of ceiling. The flowers in the water features, vases and bowls are lovely touches and show an excellent flair for design.
You will feel pampered from the start. The staff will look after every little detail for you - checking us in for our flight home, ensuring our glasses are topped up as required (without being pushy) and bringing a small chair for your handbag, should they spy it on the floor. They provided us with an excellent transfer service to and from the airport. Which made things much simpler.
The sunbathing areas, both by the main pool, the roof-top plunge pool and even the small jacuzzi pools dotted around, have the perfect number of sunloungers - enough space between them to make you feel relaxed rather than crowded. Towels and cushions as required. Waiter service is friendly and set at just the right level to make you feel looked after. Complimentary delicacies are brought round from time to time, which give you a glimpse of the cuisine.
On the subject of cuisine...... Breakfast is excellent. A very good selection of meats and cheeses, pastries - sweet and savoury - cereals, juices and a large selection of egg options. Lunch is a very good menu which offers snack-size meals upwards. If you feel like it, you can enjoy three courses of excellent food along with a very good selection of wine or just a beer. My husband was a huge fan of the barbecue. The camel is very tasty and should be tried, as should the cactus mojito.
The evening meal deserves its own paragraph. Pre-dinner drinks on the terrace. Attentive, friendly service. A wonderful position for the sunset, watching storks on the minarets and enjoying the swooping swifts, as they scramble for whatever insects are in the air, is possibly worth the cost of the holiday on its own (though we saw very few insects during the days and evenings - no mosquito issues at all). You will be escorted, across the beautifully lit terrace, to your table where you will receive, after placing your order, an amuse bouche just to get those taste buds working. You would then be presented (with a flourish!) with your first course. Should you wish, they also provide a choice of two tasting menus. Excellent for introducing you to their menu for later nights. The wines are excellent and very easy to pair with your selection of food. If you can manage to fit in a desert, you really should. These are each a work of art, both gastronomically and visually. Accompanying your meal is some live music which is delightful. We always thanked the performer as we left, as well as the waiting staff. We cannot compare the pricing with other restaurants in Marrakech as we chose to only eat in the hotel, however I have seen comments saying that this restaurant is on the pricey side. In our opinion, we felt that it was worth every penny and when we return we suspect we would only eat here again.
The spa is well worth a visit and the hammam should be tried to be believed. One of the most thorough scrub-downs I have ever experienced and just ideal for kicking off the holiday. We followed with a massage and facial and left feeling totally relaxed. And clean. So very clean.
Usually, I like to get the name of any staff member I feel is over and above the others, in an effort to ensure their commitment is recognised. I find it impossible to do in this instance. They are simply all superb. Maids, cleaners, maintenance, gardeners, waiting staff, front of house....... Without exception.
This hotel is worth visiting for the restaurant alone, whether you choose to stay here or not. Arrive in time for the sunset and don't forget to book. We stayed in low season and it was still necessary most nights.
We stayed in the Jaguar Suite and found it to be in an excellent position, enjoying two private terrace areas and overlooking the main pool. A large lounge area, office area, walk-in wardrobe, very well appointed bathroom (jacuzzi bath, separate rain-shower, double basins and well-lit make up table), separate toilet and a very comfortable, very large bed. We found the suite to be peaceful. Even late one afternoon when a family with young children were enthusiastically enjoying the pool after we had retired to our room, with the windows and doors open.
We are keen to return and would recommend others to visit.
Discuss any desires before booking/arriving via email. They are very helpful.
