Location

On Pangkor Laut Island, a three-mile ferry journey from the Malaysian mainland town of Lumut. Kuala Lumpur is the closest international airport and the hotel is 25 minutes by boat from the local Pangkor Perak Airport.

Tropical jungle, rocky outcrops and the beautiful beach of Emerald Bay create a magical environment at Pangkor Laut Resort. Chose from Sea, Beach, Spa, Hill or Garden Villas, each in their individually unique settings and many with outdoor bathtubs. Relax on your balcony and take in the stunning sea views with the high pitched calls of macaque monkeys the background.

Soak up the sun next to one of Pangkor Laut Resort’s two swimming pools. Or practise yoga on the Sri Lagenda Deck with a cooling sea breeze. Enjoy a game of squash or tennis and then trek through the rainforest with the resident naturalist. You can even charter a yacht and explore the Straits of Malacca.

Hill Villa

Hill Villas are perched dramatically on the hillside amidst the rain forest affording spectacular views of beautiful tropical gardens, the sea and the larger island of Pangkor beyond. The villas are constructed in double storey units with two rooms on the lower and two rooms on the upper floor. The rooms on the lower floor offer a huge, deep bath in a beautiful, open courtyard and the room on the upper floor offer the same size bath but with huge windows opening out to private views of the rain forest.

Garden Villa

Set amidst the lush tropical gardens of the Resort, these are housed in double-storey units. The villas on the ground floor have a huge bathtub in a private courtyard while the bathrooms in the villas on the first floor open out to a view of the surrounding rainforest. Those travelling with children may opt for the Family Plan Villas - two ground floor villas adjoined from the inside, allowing for convenient access to each villa.

Beach Villa

Beach Villas are clustered around the tropical gardens within a few steps of the white sandy beach. These villas are on one level and there are two per building, each with private outdoor courtyard bath.

Sea Villa

Sea Villas are uniquely set on stilts over the sea linked by wooden walkways. These villas offer wonderful views of the sea and the surrounding islands with en suite bathroom and huge bath surrounded by windows, which can be opened out to spectacular private views.

Spa Villa

Spa Villas are bungalows on stilts over the sea offering direct access to the Spa Village. Similar to the Sea Villas, each unit features oversized bath with ceiling mounted shower, large balcony for private sun bathing and a stunning view of the Pangkor Straits.

Sea Suite

Sea Suites. The Purnama & Suria Suites. Both the Suria and Purnama Suites stand on stilts over the sea and feature an entrance hall, separate bedroom and elegant lounge, balconies for sunbathing, and a spacious bathroom with windows that offer beautiful views of the sea from the oversized bathtub.

Pavarotti Suite

Pavarotti Suite was named after the world-renowned tenor Luciano Pavarotti who fell in love with Pangkor Laut, this is an elegant one-bedroom suite set high on the hill of the rainforest. It has a spacious and luxurious lounge area which features a tasteful pictorial tribute to Pavarotti, with a number of photos from his own private collection. Its extensive balcony offers breathtaking views of the sea and tropical rainforest and an enormous open-roofed bathroom. With the option of adding on two adjacent hill villas, this suite is ideal for large families and business executives who require extra room, privacy and separate accommodations.

Pangkor Laut Resort has 140 rooms, with eight villas and three private suites. The spacious villas are set on stilts over the sea, from the beach and up the hillside amongst the trees. There are also purpose-built 'estates' with two, three or four bedroom villas, each with its own private secluded garden. The facilities are superb and exploit the island's natural beauty. There is a splendid choice of four delightful theme restaurants and three bars - decisions can be tough!

Uncle Lim's Kitchen

Named after Chef Uncle Lim who has been at the resort since its inception, this beautifully designed, open-air restaurant is built on a rocky outcrop overlooking the sea. A superb ambience accompanies the tastes of the Nyonya and Hockchew Chinese style home cooking. All dishes are inspired by the unique products available locally and made to the guests' individual tastes and requirements. A unique experience for those who enjoy the exotic flavours of the East.

Just steps away from the Royal Bay lap pool and with superb spectacular views of the sea, The Royal Bay Beach Club is the perfect venue for light meals such as pasta, local fried noodles and salads. Fisherman's Cove

Fisherman's Cove at the Spa Village, with a stunning sea view, offers a unique symphony of fresh seafood, Western Grill, Chinese, and Italian cuisine, enhanced by home-grown island herbs from the Spa Village garden. The steel-and-wood show- kitchen and modernistic design makes this restaurant a great venue for an elegant dinner. A dress code applies and no children under the age of 16 years are permitted.

Chapman's Bar at Emerald Bay

This bar is named after the famous British Colonel, Freddy Spencer Chapman who spent 36 hours on Pangkor Laut during his dramatic escape by submarine from Emerald Bay in May 1945. Chapman's Bar is located at the beautiful Emerald Bay and offers excellent light lunches each day consisting of sandwiches, salads, traditional satay and tasty seafood dishes. A variety of beverages are also served throughout the day.

Directions

Directions by Road

For guests driving to Pangkor Laut from Kuala Lumpur, please note that the nearest town on the mainland is Lumut. Guests arriving by road park their cars at the port of Marina Island Pangkor and cross over to Pangkor Laut by water taxi. Upon arrival in Lumut, the Resort’s office will be happy to assist you with your transfer to Pangkor Laut. The boat crossing takes 15 minutes.

The directions to get to Lumut are as follows:

  • From the Damansara toll plaza, take the North South Expressway northbound towards Ipoh.

  • Exit at the Bidor toll plaza. You will be charged approximately RM15.80 per car.

  • The rest of the journey will be on trunk roads. You will pass through Bidor where you will see a Shell petrol station on your left should you need to refuel.

  • Follow signboards pointing to “Pelabuhan Lumut” or “Lumut Naval Base”.

  • Follow signboards to “Teluk Intan”, “Sitiawan” and “Pulau Pangkor”.

  • The journey from Bidor town to Lumut is approximately 110 km, or 1 ½ hours.

  • From Kanpung Batu Lapan Lekir in Sitiawan, Perak, head northwest on Route 5 towards Jalan Changkat Jering – Sri Manjung – Kampung Koh (4.5 km). Turn left onto Jalan Changkat Jering – Sri Manjung – Kampung Koh (5.7 km). Slight left onto the ramp to Jalan Changkat Jering – Sri Manjung – Kampung Koh (110 m). Sharp right onto Jalan Changkat Jering – Sri Manjung – Kampung Koh (500 m). Turn left onto Jalan Iskandar Shah (3.4 km). Continue onto Route 18 (1.0 km). Exit onto A 186 (3.3 km). Turn left into Marina Island Pangkor. Pangkor Laut Resort office is by the marina.

  • There is a car park next to the Resort’s Marina Island Pangkor office where you will be able to park your car overnight for a nominal fee of RM10 per day.
