Inspired by Notting Hill culture and infused with British style, The Laslett is more home than hotel

Unique qualities

  • Set across five Grade II listed Victorian townhouses
  • Décor features work from British artists and curiosities from local antique dealers
  • Curated British Library, boutique shop and The Henderson Bar and Coffee Shop on the ground floor

The hotel in detail

Elegant and eclectic, The Laslett takes inspiration from Notting Hill’s cultural heritage and creative character. The ground floor space, occupying two of the Victorian buildings, is more neighbourhood hangout than hotel lobby. Here you’ll find an exclusive ‘British Library’, original artworks and 'shop' showcasing collaborations with designers and artists. The Henderson Bar and Coffee Shop – named after Russell ‘Russ’ Henderson, one of the founders of Notting Hill Carnival – serves up everything from breakfast, to light lunches and dinner. In the evening, it becomes the go-to place for late-night cocktails.

Upstairs, the 51 bedrooms reflect this luxury hotel’s home-from-home vibe. Created to feel like a stylish friend’s pad, there are cleverly compact ‘spare rooms’ and spacious ‘master bedroom’ suites. In each you’ll find British artworks and locally-sourced vintage knick-knacks, alongside designer furnishings by Pinch and Race. There are thoughtful touches dotted throughout, too – from Penguin Classics books to Ren products in the bathrooms. The hotel also offers a handy smart phone for making complimentary phone calls.

When it’s time to explore, The Laslett is perfectly placed near London’s cultural hotspots. The charms of Portobello Road, with its market stalls and antiques, are just a short walk from the hotel. Alternatively, browse the designer boutiques of nearby Kensington, or escape the bustle in the scenic surrounds of Kensington Palace and Gardens. If the British rain sets in, spirits won’t be dampened. Take in some art at the Serpentine Galleries or a film at the enchanting Electric Cinema.

Neighbourhood Guide

  • The best experience close to the hotel is: Shopping in Portobello Road Market, the world’s largest antiques market - We’d recommend going on a Friday when a lot of the serious antique dealers head down.
  • The most unique spot nearby is: Golbourne Road with fantastic niche shops full of curiosities.
  • Our hidden gem is: Our British curated library.
  • Guests can live like a local by: Booking the fine vintage experience with Sidestory for a tour of the best local vintage fashion shops.
  • Our favourite local restaurant is: Granger & Co for Brunch & Clarke’s for Dinner.
  • Our favourite time of year here is: Spring because the Magnolia and cherry blossoms bloom next to the iconic colourful houses.
  • There’s no place in the world like: The Cow Pub on Westbourne Park Road specialising in Oysters & Guinness.
  • The most adventurous thing to do near here is: Outdoor swimming in the Serpentine Lido.
  • The best selfie / photo spot nearby is: That Blue Door (from the movie Notting Hill).
  • For a breath-taking view guests should go to: The Serpentine & Serpentine Sacker gallery in the middle of Hyde Park.
  • The ideal night here would be to: Starting off with a Henderson's Rum Punch, stroll down the road for some Italian tapas at Polpo followed by a show at the Print Room, or for a special occasion, enjoy dinner at the Michelin-starred The Ledbury and The Holland Park opera.
