Mystery Inspector's Insider Tips

Last inspection: 15 September 2009

Mystery Inspectors explained:

Small Luxury Hotels of the World (SLH) places great emphasis on its inspection process and believes in the importance of using 'real' guests rather than retired hotel inspectors to provide a valuable assessment of the hotel, its facilities and the quality of service provided. Enlisting guests in the quality control programme not only enables SLH's customers to be directly involved in the process but allows the hotels to shape operations based on their guests' opinions and experienced insight. As far as the hotel is concerned, this means that every hotel guest is a potential inspector.

Top 3 reasons to stay at the hotel:

  1. The outstanding feature of Hayfield Manor is the friendliness and professionalism of the staff. My stay there was a reminder of the difference a good team can make when you arrive tired and fraught after a days travelling.

  2. Well located, Hayfield Manor is a well established and comfortable hotel which manages to balance a certain old established charm with modern facilities. Both restaurants retain their particular character which accompanied with delicious food and atmosphere keep guests well fed and impressed with a very high level of cooking!

  3. The Spa and health facilities are magnificent - eight treatment rooms, a gym and large heated pool are outstanding and all guests will enjoy the friendly and professional staff.

Overview:

Just before leaving I had a delicious smoked salmon sandwich on the terrace outside in the sun again served with style and thought by the bar team from the spacious, paneled bar. Hayfield Manor is in a real oasis of peace and quiet in the middle of a busy city.

Development Director's Background Briefing

Development Directors explained:

Before a hotel can join Small Luxury Hotels of the World, an SLH Development Director visits the property so that its accommodation, dining and leisure facilities are all experienced first-hand. The hotel is then put forward to the SLH CEO for approval, and final approval is given by a member of the Board of Directors. The quality of our brand is only as good as the quality of our hotels and we're passionate about seeking out the very finest small independent hotels in the world.
