Taormina, a beautiful small hilltop town in Sicily, offers some of the best views I’ve ever come across. The medieval streets, the Greek remains and the nature are all breathtaking, and just waiting to be captured on camera. There’s perfect photo opportunities around every single corner, but these are some of the spots I think are especially worth a visit and a snap or two, or three…

Alcantara Gorge

Alcantara Gorge is such a spectacular place! The black lava walls surrounding the crystal clear water look like a scene from a movie and offer the perfect backdrop for photos.

If you’re brave enough to let your feet wander through the icy cold water, you can pose in the river, right next to the walls. But if that’s not your idea of fun, there’s also quite a lot of trails around the area with equally amazing views of the gorge.

Garden of Villa Comunale

The public gardens of Taormina are not only the perfect place to relax, but also to take some very nice shots.

There are more than plenty of photo opportunities scattered around, from beautiful flowers and quirky buildings to gorgeous views of the coast and Mount Etna.

The View from Villa Ducale

Speaking of views, my favourite view of Taormina is, without a doubt, the view from Hotel Villa Ducale. I couldn’t stop taking photos of it.

The villa is located up on a hill, with breathtaking views over the Taormina coastline amd Mount Etna. Sit on the terrace and enjoy a gorgeous Sicilian buffet breakfast overlooking the striking blue sea and terracotta rooftops. Or pop over to their sister property, Hotel Villa Carlotta who also boast spectacular views, especially from their restaurant.

Teatro Greco

The perfect place for history buffs and photography enthusiasts alike. Teatro Greco, an ancient Greek theatre, is one of the most picturesque places, with ruins in the foreground and a splendid coastal view in the background.

I can only imagine how incredible the energy of this place must be when the performances are on.

Isola Bella Beach

Last, but not least, is Isola Bella. It would be a crime not to mention this charming beach as one of the best photo spots in Taormina. It is a part of a nature reserve, and connects the mainland with a cute little island via a thin, pebble strip.

It’s such a lovely piece of Sicily, with untouched nature and pristine sea. Dreamy! You can reach it by foot or cable car, which offers even more amazing views of the breathtaking landscape.
