Grasmere Lodge

A working sheep station near Arthur’s Pass in the heart of the Southern Alps, Grasmere Lodge combines a genuine taste of rural New Zealand with superb accommodation, a pool, a spa, fine dining and an extensive choice of leisure opportunities.

There is a distinctly Scottish feel here with deep tartan carpets, a stag’s head and an enormous number of leather chesterfields. The rooms and suites, however, are decorated in colours that reflect the tussock-covered hills outside. The ambience is friendly and informal with dining in dinner-party style around a large table where five-course feasts are served every evening.

Unwind with a therapeutic massage then walk to a nearby lake for a picnic under the willow trees. After a day of total relaxation, try fishing, playing tennis or heading into the country for horse riding, hiking or skiing in winter.
