Oheka Castle Hotel & Estate

Summary

The Oheka Castle Hotel & Estate is the second largest private residence in the United States. Built on Long Island’s famous Gold Coast, its recent renovation has faithfully brought this fairytale castle back to glory.

Vanderbilt, Dupont, Guggenheim, they all built their mansions on the Gold Coast. By 1921, Otto Kahn had out-built them all with a vast château on a man-made hill overlooking Cold Spring Harbour.

Now it has been gloriously restored: not just the fabric of the building but the furniture, the furnishings, the decor, the grand bathrooms, and even the door handles. Some things however have had to change: high-tech facilities have been installed without compromising its unique heritage.
