This is a retreat where you can rest and relax and find quiet corners in the gardens filled with camphor, banana trees and Norfolk pines. Large, contemporary-styled living rooms with modern art pieces are very tranquil, as is the accommodation with terraces overlooking the gardens.

Visit the Botanical Gardens in Funchal for a good introduction to both indigenous and exotic flora. Then take a boat trip to the beautiful island of Porto Santo, or to Monte, a pretty hilltop town nearby. Return to the hotel’s restaurant, Casa da Quinta for Portuguese, à la carte dining.
