  1. The location of the Pacific Resort Aitutaki is unbeatable. The resort is strung out along a white sandy beach overlooking the stunning lagoon which ensures that every room is absolute beachfront. Aitutaki Lagoon is one of the most beautiful places on earth. The restaurant rests atop a volcanic outcrop and provides the most glorious views onto the lagoon, the reef and the Pacific Ocean beyond. Visit in August or September and experience the humpback whales and their calves cruising by a mere 100 metres away while you eat breakfast in the restaurant, sit on your private deck or paddle a kayak. This has to be one of the most magical experiences ever!

  2. The Pacific Resort accommodation is outstanding. There are only 27 bungalows and each one is stand-alone with a beautiful, spacious bedroom and bathroom and a large sundeck complete with table, chairs, sun-bed and day bed and private, direct beach access. Step down from your private deck onto the white, sandy beach, relax in a hammock or sun-bed under the coconut palms, swim, snorkel or kayak in the crystal clear lagoon while observing the myriad of fish, coral heads and giant clams. The room design and furnishings make the most of local island materials and give a wonderful south-sea island ambience.

The “island time” holiday experience provided by a stay at the Pacific Resort Aitutaki is a perfect combination of quality accommodation, facilities and services with rest and relaxation, privacy and serenity. There is a variety of resort activities provided should you wish to take part in these, such as Island Night, but it is equally possible not to be involved or have these intrude on your privacy. The bungalows give the feeling of staying in private accommodation but with all of the advantages of having resort facilities such as restaurant, infinity pool, spa and room service at your doorstep. This is one of the most romantic places you could wish to stay in one of the most glorious settings.

Aitutaki is a 40 minute flight from Rarotonga and its lagoon is rated as one of the most beautiful places on earth. The aerial view of the lagoon as you fly in confirms that rating. You are greeted by Pacific Resort staff on arrival at the airport and checked into your room within 20 minutes of arriving. The Pacific Resort has made the most of its stunning location with every bungalow being absolute beachfront with a large sundeck overlooking the beach and lagoon on the sunset side of the island. The gardens are immaculate and delightful, providing produce for the kitchens where possible. The main restaurant is open-sided, on three levels, overlooking the lagoon and infinity pool and perched on a volcanic outcrop that provides superb views all of which enhances the wonderful food. The poolside Black Rock Café provides an alternative venue for lunch and is perfect for that cocktail sundowner with a choice of seating areas around the bar, the pool, under trees and beachside. It is difficult to think how this nirvana could be improved upon. The entire complex is exceptionally well-cared for and beautiful and provides a totally stress-free holiday environment. Lagoon cruises can be arranged, transport to local restaurants if you wish to dine elsewhere for a change and the pool, beach, lagoon and kayaks are always available to help while away the dreamy hours. A highlight for us was to see the humpback whales cruising past 100 metres away just outside the reef. Where else in the world could you be treated to a display like this while eating breakfast or sitting in a kayak and observing these majestic creatures so close by! It is very difficult to drag yourself away from this most relaxing and romantic of island beach resorts.
