The Small Luxury Hotels of the World™ (SLH) portfolio continues to expand with a number of particularly notable new hotels joining the revered brand this year.
Dan Luddington, Director of Development at Small Luxury Hotels of the World™ (SLH), explains why the hotels will step up to the SLH mark and reveals what makes each hotel stand out.
Le Barthélemy - St Barths, Carribbean. Opening December 2014
"The highly anticipated opening of the first Small Luxury Hotels of the World™ property in St Barths in December 2014 is already creating a buzz at the SLH HQ. Stunningly located on the lagoon of Grand Cul de Sac and against the volcanic island backdrop, the hotel will offer guests a casual yet elegant environment in which to enjoy the perfect holiday, whether that’s trying their hand at kitesurfing, floating in the infinity edge pool, or relaxing in the zen-infused spa. What particularly appeals is the combination of ocean views, spacious suites and private pools alongside a restaurant by Michelin-starred French chef Guy Martin."
Archipelagos Hotel - Mykonos, Greece. Reopened after refurbishment
"Following a refurbishment, this hotel reopened on the 1 May as part of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World™ portfolio. The delightfully traditional hotel is located on one of the longest stretches of beach on the island, Kalo Livaldi beach. The new interior was designed by the architect Dimitris Tsitsos and reflects traditional Cycladic design with cool creams and dreamy blues. The prestigious restaurant is located in a shaded patio where diners can enjoy gourmet Greek cuisine whilst looking out over Kalo Livaldi Bay. Guests can venture to Mykonos town for a taste of the mythological culture, or simply relax in the soothing spa where they can drift into bliss with tailor-made treatments to suit every guest."
Boheme Hotel - Mykonos, Greece. Opened 16th Apri
"The recently opened luxurious Boheme Hotel is a soothing oasis with light interiors and contemporary fittings. The rooms are decorated with a 'boho' design; quirky lighting and contemporary furniture give a retro feel to the property. Located near to Mykonos Town, the hotel is within easy reach of the Mykonian windmills and boasts spectacular views across the Aegean Sea, something that really sets it apart from other hotels in the area."
Domaine de Manville - Les Baux de Provence, France. Opening July 2014
"Nestled in the valley beneath Les Baux, a hilltop medieval village, Domaine de Manville sits in a stunning 100-acre estate. Once a working farm, this chic French property makes for the perfect carefree getaway. The 30 rooms are all airy and light, reflecting the tranquil surroundings. The hotel not only has a large exclusive spa, fitness suite, scenic 18-hole golf course and gourmet restaurant but it can also offer wine tasting and truffle hunting. Guests can also explore the nearby medieval towns, sample delicious Provencal cuisine in the gourmet restaurant and stroll through the picturesque landscape. The surrounding acres of land, olive trees and lavender fields give this property a feeling of being refreshingly secluded and truly capture the essence of the Apilles region."
