Relax at one of the many cafés under the shady plane trees that line Mendoza's cobbled streets. Sip the regional Malbec wines that have made Mendoza famous and secured its place as one of the world's great capitals of wine. Accompany warm reds with barbecued veal and thick stews of beef, tomato and olives in winter. Or order a bowl of fresh fruit with honey in the heat of summer.
NATURE & SPORTS
Adventurers will be in heaven, with horseback riding, kayaking, hiking and climbing all popular activities near Mendoza. Under the shadow of Mount Aconcagua, serious mountain climbers will be in their element. In winter, the nearby ski slopes offer impeccable snow, trails for all abilities and plenty of off-piste opportunities.
Wine tasting is not to be missed during a luxury stay in Mendoza. Wine tours will take you to the beautiful countryside estates and vineyards just outside of the city. Sample the local Malbec, Tempranillo and Cabernet Sauvignon varieties while learning about the local winemaking culture and techniques. Then take a bottle – or two – of your favourite red back to your luxury retreat at the end of the day.
