Relax at one of the many cafés under the shady plane trees that line Mendoza's cobbled streets. Sip the regional Malbec wines that have made Mendoza famous and secured its place as one of the world's great capitals of wine. Accompany warm reds with barbecued veal and thick stews of beef, tomato and olives in winter. Or order a bowl of fresh fruit with honey in the heat of summer.

Adventurers will be in heaven, with horseback riding, kayaking, hiking and climbing all popular activities near Mendoza. Under the shadow of Mount Aconcagua, serious mountain climbers will be in their element.
