Things to do

SKI
Downhill skiing was born in St Anton am Arlberg when, in 1901, the village formed the very first ski club in the Alps. Famous for its pristine, powdery snow and network of challenging routes, world-class athletes and international competitions have flocked to the village ever since. Book a private lesson to brush up on your technique, or plan an off-piste adventure to explore more of the mountains.

NATURE
The summer months transform the mountains around St Anton am Arlberg from glittering white to bright emerald. Swap skis for hiking boots and wander along miles of trails, passing pine forests and wildflower meadows. Try your hand at rock climbing or mountain biking. Or, for something a little gentler, take a cable car up to a vantage point and enjoy incredible views across the peaks and valleys.

FOOD
With so much fresh, mountain air to enjoy, you’re sure to work up an appetite. Head into the village and you’ll find a wide choice of restaurants, from cosy lodges to chic restaurants serving gourmet cuisine. Tyrol mixes hearty Austrian fare with Italian flavours – you could warm up with a classic goulash stew and flaky apple strudel, or savour rich truffle pasta followed by creamy gelato.

Top Tip from SLH

Missing the beach? For something a little different, take a seat to watch a game of Snow Volleyball – the championships are held in St Anton each year.
