The village grew as a stopping-off point on the London to Exeter stagecoach route. The transport links are still excellent, and getting to London, the New Forest or Southampton is a breeze. Or simply enjoy the beauty of the Hampshire countryside from your luxury boutique hotel.
A peaceful Hampshire village, with excellent travel links for exploring the rest of the county.
Things to do
Hampshire locals are proud of their agricultural heritage, and you won’t get a better impression of the plenty of the land than at a farmers’ market. With top quality seasonal food, the markets are held regularly throughout the area during the summer months.
If you’re a Jane Austen fan, her house in nearby Chawlton is well worth a visit. Here you’ll find lots of memorabilia to pore over and original manuscripts to admire, as well as displays telling the story of Jane and her family.
Hook may be a modern commuter village but there’s plenty of history if you look closer. From Roman ruins, to the 15th-century architecture of the White Hart Hotel in the centre, you’ll find lots to admire.
If you enjoy walking or cycling, Hampshire is home to two national parks: the South Downs in the east and the New Forest in the west.
