Things to do
BEACHES
Wadduwa’s long, sun-drenched beach beckons you to take it easy. From the shade of the palms to the clear water that breaks on the shore, it’s the perfect spot for relaxation. Wander among colourful fishing boats pulled up on the sand. Or sip a refreshing cocktail in a quiet beach bar, as the sun sinks below the horizon.
WATER
From a quick dip to a day’s excursion – the Indian Ocean is yours to explore. Arrange a private boat to take you down the shore. Windsurf on the gentle tropical breeze. Or break the surface with a snorkel and enter a world teeming with life.
DAY TRIPS
Take the coastal train to nearby Kalutara for a taste of something different. Once a centre for the spice trade, this seaside resort still resonates with history. An impressive bridge spans the mouth of the Kalu Ganga River, connecting the western and southern borders. And the local shrine Kalutara Vihara is believed to be the only hollow Stupa in the world, and contains over 70 Buddhist murals.
